Wrath of Khan would bring about a whole new look for the Enterprise crew, including a unique jumpsuit for the enlisted members. Star Trek: The Motion Picture introduced a myriad of jumpsuits in numerous earth-tones. To save money, costume designer Robert Fletcher would take some of those jumpsuits and tear them down, re-dye them, re-cut them and reassemble them into an all-new-looking uniform.

The jumpsuit came in two basic versions – black-collared enlisted crew and red-collared cadet versions. The wrist would show a band of color denoting the crewmember's department ala the Monster Maroon color codes. A rank pin was added to the wrist band and a metal Starfleet badge worn on the chest would complete the look. A silver belt buckle was used in contrast to the gold of the officer's uniform.

  • The WOK Jumpsuit is deceptively sophisticated in its construction. It features intricate stitching and assembling along with real-world basics like pockets to yield a sturdy worker's jumpsuit. To this day, it's one of the most utilitarian – and realistic – of all the Starfleet uniforms.
