The Lieutenant
In the Original Series movie era, some great new characters were added to the crew of the Starship Enterprise. In Star Trek II we were introduced to the character of Saavik, played by Kirstie Alley well before "Cheers". Saavik was a student and protege of Captain Spock and was on board the Enterprise as an officer cadet when the ship was brought into action against Khan. Her introduction came as she was embroiled in Starfleet's now-famous "Kobayashi Maru" no-win scenario test of character, a challenge that would be referred to time and again in later Treks.
Saavik wore a bright red cadet shirt and department straps that helped to differentiate her from the regular crew's commisioned officers as well as helping her stand out on-camera.
The jacket has been photo matched to high-rez PR photos taken during the production of "Wrath of Khan" and features details specific to original maroons from that film. This same jacket was reused in later Star Trek films and was also worn by Kim Cattrall in her portrayal of the Vulcan Lt. Valeris in "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country". It is an exciting and signature piece to have in the collection.
